Starting with our next gathering, all general meetings will begin at 2:30 PM, with room setup commencing at 1:30 PM. The separate 2:00 PM fishing meeting has been discontinued and will now be integrated into the general meeting. The Board approved this move to streamline our schedule and ensure smoother coordination.

Offshore fishing in September presents a mix of opportunities and challenges in the Gulf of Mexico between Sarasota and Tarpon Springs, FL. Here's a breakdown of what to expect:Grouper: September is a prime time for grouper fishing. Gag grouper season is notably open for a limited window at the beginning of the month. Other species like red grouper and scamp grouper are also available and can be targeted on artificial reefs, ledges, and rocky bottoms.Snapper: Several snapper species, including mangrove, lane, and vermilion, are biting well. The fall season for red snapper is open for private recreational anglers on certain weekends. These fish are often found on offshore reefs and other bottom structures.Pelagic Species: The month sees the arrival of migratory species. Look for Spanish and king mackerel, false albacore (little tunny), and blackfin tuna in the coastal Gulf. These fast-moving fish often follow bait schools and can be caught by trolling or casting.Other Species: Keep an eye out for cobia, barracuda, and sharks, which are also active in the offshore waters. Tripletail can be found around crab trap floats, buoys, and other floating debris.

For Your InformationMonthly Photo Contest Rules Club members submit entries to a monthly photo contest. Entries are voted on and the winner receives $20.Photo Submission begins the day after the monthly meeting and ends on the final day of the month.Voting Period opens on the 5th of the month and closes on the 10th of each month.Results are published on the website and announced at the next Monthly Meeting.Open to Club members only.Fishing Photo Contest RulesEvery time we receive 10 photos, however short or long time it takes, we will put them to a vote!Anglers may submit two entries per voting period; one entry per fishing trip. If you go out twice, you can submit two entries.Only one entry per fish (we have ways of knowing if you cheat).Open to Club members only.Weekly Club Trip to Gun Craft Range & Instruction for New ShootersGroup Club Shoot: Every Friday, unless rained out or if the range is closed for any reason.Static Range: Reserved Friday mornings for Sportsman’s Club Members.Shooting Line Instructions: Please leave the first 2 positions on the left open for Range Officers and Club Instructors to work with new shooters.Schedule:8:30 a.m.: Office opens8:30 to 9:00 a.m.: Range is cold - Targets are set up for the 9:00 a.m. shooting session9:00 to 9:30 a.m.: Range goes hot for the early shooting sessionInstruction for New Shooters: Available during the 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. session. Appointments can be made by emailing the club. Our regular Friday shooters will be there to instruct you on the safe use of firearms.9:30 to 10:00 a.m.: Range is cold - Targets are set up for the 10:00 a.m. shooting session10:00 a.m.: Range goes hot for open shooting, followed by the weekly bottle shoot competition or the monthly fun shoot competition.Membership Requirement: You must be a member of Gun Craft Range to participate.
